Great watch-Great deal
I didn't really need another watch, but liked the style and the price was irresistible. Keeps excellent time (as Swiss quartz movement usually do) and looks great. Also like that it displays the day of the week.
Incredible Value
There were a few things I really wanted when looking for a watch.
1. Easy to read face. While many watches look a pretty neat, a lot of them take 5 - 10 seconds to identify the time. I wanted to be able to glance and know the time.
2. Date indicator. I always forget what number day it is. This watch has it at the 3 o'clock position.
3. Day of week indicator. Not terribly important, but handy. This is at the 12 o'clock position.
I like the solid construction of the watch. It's fairly heavy (although most large-style watches manufactured today weigh in around the same). This color scheme is nice as it matches what you're weary in almost every case.
I wondered how accurate the time keeping on a lower-end Invicta would be. Well, I managed to set the time within a second or two of my computer (time maintained by sync to atomic clock). After 2 weeks, the watch was still in time with the computer. At most, I have a 1 second drift over the 2 weeks. Well within my tolerances :)
Things I don't like:
1. The bezel. It's movement is crisp, but it does not line up with the face markings exactly. Doesn't really matter for function... but it is off.
2. The highly polished center of the band - while very attractive, does scratch slightly. While you have to look close to see, I suspect more scratches will develop as time goes on (although, it could be argued that this is normal wear and ANY watch will show it - probably true).
3. The weight. It's both a pro and a con. While it makes me feel good about the watch's construction, it can also be a hindrance. Some days, I really feel the watch. Others, I forget it's there. Just need to make sure it's on your wrist properly.
4. I noticed the day of the week display doesn't click over at midnight, but starts it's turn around 10pm. Thus, by 11pm or so, you'll see [day Mon] in the display (the end part of Tuesday and the beginning part of Monday). I don't have a comparison to another watch to know if this is par for the course as far as this indicator goes.
Conclusions:
A GREAT watch for the money. At $50, this is a must-buy.
I wanted a watch to see if I even liked wearing one. It had to be cheap enough so that if I didn't like it, I wouldn't be too mad to not use it. And it had to be good enough that I didn't forever taint my experience with watches because of one experience with a junker. Well, I'm happy to say I like watches. This is a great piece to find out if you like them too.
Very Impressive Gift.
To soon to tell re the reliability of the watch, but my husband loves it. The size of the face for time and date are great for "no eyeglass" viewing. He has commented several times since I gave it to him as a Christmas gift, "I LOVE this watch". What more can be said other than I looks great on him.
